Chief Medical Residents 2009-2010

The Chief Medical Residents are a major force on the medical service. In addition to accomplishing the miracles of scheduling and conferences, they are an invaluable resource for teaching, conducting rounds, disseminating medical literature and overseeing all educational aspects of the program. Through the initiatives of the chief medical residents, new programs are proposed and accomplished.

"I chose Beth Israel Medical Center for training because I could really relate to the house staff.  I went to medical school in San Antonio, Texas and I was looking for a similar family. The internal medicine residents and attendings are very respectful and approachable so it reminded me of home. This is a great place to learn because of the varied patient population and the vast spectrum of diseases that are represented. I am honored to be Chief Medical Resident for the 2009-2010 academic year. I enjoy teaching residents and medical students."

“When I applied for residency, I was looking for a program with certain necessary characteristics. I wanted a program that was proud of its house staff, giving them an appropriate measure of independence and guidance, with attendings that valued their interactions with residents and loved to teach.  I was seeking a program with strong fellowships that embellished the teaching and provided residents with opportunities to contribute to meaningful on-campus research.  For the past 3 years, Beth Israel has delivered on all of these well beyond my expectations”.

"What I like the most about Beth Israel Medical Center is diversity. Not only do we take care of a diverse patient population, my colleagues' diverse backgrounds add to my training experience. The different perspectives are enriching and rewarding. The program is very welcoming, encourages learning and fosters growth as a physician. I certainly enjoyed my years here at Beth Israel and I am honored to be here for another year as a Chief Resident."

"The best decision I ever made was choosing Beth Israel!  I have grown and flourished here in ways I never expected.  The learning environment has been so rich... filled with fascinating patients, supportive colleagues, and passionate teachers.  I feel prepared to face any challenge my future career may throw at me.  I was so honored and excited to begin my chief year.  I feel like the chief year is my time to give back to a program that has given me so much."

"Becoming part of the Internal Medicine program here at Beth Israel was a bit of an accident for me.  I originally joined the house staff as a preliminary intern, but ended up making a switch to the categorical program.  This has  turned out to be a happy circumstance for me.  I am pleased with the training that I have received and have been very happy with my decision to complete my training at Beth Israel.  I am looking forward to an academic career in cardiology and am excited to spend a year as a Chief Resident."
